Abstract

One of the real failures in the field, especially in mathematics is teacher presents the material monotonic. Though the basic mathematics as a science has an important role in improving human resources, especially in improving intellectual. To overcome the above problems have sought an approach that can support learning math fun and not creepy at the same time so as to improve the ease of understanding students’ motivation in learning mathematics. Therefore, the authors wanted to examine whether the use of model game stairway numbers can overcome learning difficulties in understanding the concepts and principles of integer operations on students class VIIA SMP Negeri 1 Rambipuji. model game stairway numbers used by researchers is easy and simple. Stairway numbers is one of the learning tools to add up and reduce the integers. The subjects of this study were students class VIIA SMP Negeri 1 Rambipuji, amounting to 40 children with heterogeneous intellectual level. This study uses the system cycle. Each cycle consists of four stages: (1) planning, (2) acting, (3) observing, (4) reflecting. In this cycle setap sub-subject approach. So some sub subject is equal to one cycle. Based on the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that the study together using model game stairway numbers can enhance the activity and learning outcomes student class VIIA SMP Negeri 1 Rambipuji. In the first cycle of activity student by 82% and active students in the second cycle increased to 88% of students are active. In the first cycle averages 66.8 students  test results and the second cycle increased to 68.75.
